Viktor Gyokeres is reconsidering a move to Manchester United after Arsenal’s negotiations with Sporting CP stalled this week, according to reports in Portugal.
Gyokeres, who scored 54 goals in 52 appearances last season, has made Arsenal his priority destination this summer and has already rejected an offer from Juventus.
United, meanwhile, have also been informed of Gyokeres’ preference to join Arsenal, with Ruben Amorim keen to add a new striker to his squad before the start of the new Premier League season.
However, Arsenal have failed to make progress during their negotiations with Sporting, who are standing firm over their €80m (£68.6m) asking price.
Arsenal’s latest offer is worth €65m (£56m) plus €15m (£13m) in add-ons, but Sporting are demanding €70m (£60m) up front with an additional €10m (£8.6m) in bonuses.

According to Correio da Manha, Gyokeres is ‘rethinking’ his next move and while the striker still prefers a switch to Arsenal, he is said to be giving United a ‘second look’.
Meanwhile, fellow Portuguese newspaper Record reports that Gyokeres has turned down an approach from United on three separate occasions.
However, United, Atletico Madrid and Juventus are all understood to be willing to meet Sporting’s €70m (£60m) plus €10m (£8.6m) demand for the 27-year-old.
Gyokeres and Amorim have a strong relationship following their time together at Sporting before the 40-year-old left the Portuguese club to join United last November.
In an interview with France Football this week, Gyokeres thanked Amorim for the key role he played in his development at Sporting.
‘I came here, it’s been great since day one, I’ve developed a lot here with the team,’ Gyokeres said.
‘We have a lot of amazing memories together as a team, winning two championships in a row, for the first time in 71 years I think it is, it’s an amazing achievement.
‘Of course, Amorim played a big part of this because he was the one who really wanted me here and his style of football that we played under him suited me very well, I think.
‘I can’t thank him enough.’
