Liverpool are set to be crowned Premier League champions and win the English title for a record-equalling 20th time.

The Reds have exceeded expectations in Arne Slot’s first season at Anfield and need just a point against Tottenham on Sunday to clinch the title.

Liverpool have occupied top-spot for most of the season, brushing off an early challenge from Chelsea and then proving too strong for Arsenal in the second-half of the campaign.

There were huge questions marks over Liverpool ahead of the season given the emotional departure of legendary manager Jurgen Klopp, who won both the Premier League and Champions League during his spell at the club.

Concerns were even raised about Slot, the former Feyenoord manager who Liverpool only turned to after being rejected by their former player Xabi Alonso.

But Slot is set to guid Liverpool to their 20th English league title – matching Manchester United’s all-time record – with just two defeats from 34 league games.

Liverpool could yet surpass 90 points in the Premier League, a feat achieved only 14 times in history.

When will Liverpool lift the Premier League trophy?

Even if Liverpool take an unassailable lead in the title race on Sunday, they will have a little wait before getting their hands on the Premier League trophy.

Tradition dictates that the trophy presentation will be held on the final weekend of the season.

Liverpool face Crystal Palace at Anfield on the final day of the season so that is when Reds captain Virgil van Dijk and manager Slot will lift the trophy.

The trophy presentation is always an iconic moment, which will be replayed and remembered for years by joyous Liverpool fans.

When will Liverpool’s bus parade take place?

Thousands of fans will be keen to celebrate the team’s success during a Premier League trophy parade in the city.

Supporters were deprived that chance the last time Liverpool won the title due to Covid.

When Liverpool won the Champions League to become European champions in 2019, around 750,000 fans came out to honour the team.

Given the title is yet to be secured, neither the club or the council have confirmed dates or titles for a potential parade.

However, it is expected to be held on Monday, 26 May – 24 hours after Liverpool will lift the trophy at Anfield.

The same parade route was used after Liverpool won the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League in 2022.

The route covered 13.5km of the city, beginning at Allerton Maze in the south and finishing on The Strand.
