This past weekend in Caves Valley marked not only the conclusion of the BMW Championship, but the end of the qualifying period for The United States Ryder Cup Team. That’s right, the long-awaited biennial event is closing in, and Team USA has locked in the first 6 players. Take a look at who has automatically qualified to join Captain Keegan Bradley in New York, September 26th through the 28th.
Scottie Scheffler
It goes without saying that Scottie Scheffler tops this list. Winning two majors this season, and a clear leader in points, the World No. 1 is set to appear at Bethpage Black, reportedly rocking new Ralph Lauren uniforms.
J.J. Spaun
Thanks, in part, to his first major win at the 2025 U.S. Open, J.J. Spaun secured his spot on Team USA. That being said, J.J. has had an incredible season. His playoff last weekend at FedEx St. Jude against Justin Rose, and another playoff at The Players Championship against Rory McIlroy in March prove that his spot on this list is well deserved.
Xander Schauffele
Despite missing out on the Tour Championship for the first time in his career, Schauffele still managed to secure his place at the Ryder Cup this fall. The World No. 3 suffered an early season injury and has yet to bounce back. When asked about an appearance at the ProCore Championship, Xander said,
“I don’t know how many guys have signed up or not, but I wouldn’t say there’s an expectation for us to play, but a lot of us do want to play just to stay fresh, knock off some rust. I’ll have an even longer break, so we’ll see how that goes,” Said Schauffele.
In the same interview he took time to reflect on his mental health, stating,
“I feel like I just need to sort of reset a little bit, cool off a little bit, and just get back to a healthy mental place where I want to sit down and work really hard again. Right now I’m mentally a little tapped.”
Russell Henley
An underrated player, Henley has consistently appeared in the top-10 this 2025 season. With a win at the 2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational, and a T2 at the Travelers Championship, the Georgia native has worked hard this year, earning his spot on the 2025 Ryder Cup team.
Harris English
The 36-year-old professional secured his spot after a strong 2025 season, including a win at the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open. In an interview, Harris spoke about growing up with Henley while looking forward to playing alongside his longtime friend in the Ryder Cup. The two have played golf together since aged ten, and were even roommates in college for awhile.
Bryson DeChambeau
Despite playing on the LIV Golf circuit, DeChambeau clinched an automatic spot at the Ryder Cup. The golfer is making a push for the American team this year, bringing a ‘tsunami’ of fans in support of the USA. His appearance is already causing waves though, and the PGA reportedly plans to uphold their ban, excluding Bryson from the ProCore Championship in September. This event acts a warm up ahead of the Ryder Cup for many players. Bryson may have to sit out on the ProCore, but he is sure to make a splash at the Ryder Cup with his big personality and even bigger swing.
