However, less than a handful of his recruits have proven to be hits.
A series of underwhelming loans and extortionate transfer fees has hampered United’s business since 2022 – with Antony and Mason Mount having failed to repay their price tags, whilst others have been plagued with injuries.
Despite sticking with Ten Hag, United chiefs are set to strip back the 54-year-old’s previously considerable control over transfers.
Amid the news that Ten Hag is set to stick around, here are all of his signings to date ranked from worst to best.
16 – Antony
After working with him at Ajax, Ten Hag splashed out £85.5m on Antony in 2022.
However, the Brazilian winger has been highly criticised by fans and pundits, scoring just once in the league last season.
15 – Sergio Reguilon
In contrast, Sergio Reguilon cost United nothing as he signed on loan from Tottenham in the summer of 2023.
But the deadline day signing lasted just four months, though, before he was sent back to Spurs after making only seven starts.

14 – Jack Butland
Another loan signing, Jack Butland was brought in from Crystal Palace in January 2023 to provide goalkeeping back-up.
Butland would not make an appearance on the bench in the league until April before departing without playing a single minute.

13 – Martin Dubravka
Butland’s arrival came about after Martin Dubravka was recalled from his own loan spell by Newcastle.
The Slovakian keeper made two Carabao Cup appearances during his short spell at Old Trafford.
12 – Altay Bayindir
Ten Hag’s third back-up goalkeeper signing Altay Bayindir joined from Fenerbahce last summer for £4.3m.
He has since made just one appearance, conceding twice against League Two Newport in the FA Cup in January.
11 – Mason Mount
United’s pursuit of Mount developed into a transfer saga before he completed his £60m move from Chelsea.
The England midfielder has struggled for form and fitness, though, limiting him to 19 appearances this season so the jury’s still out.

10 – Sofyan Amrabat
It took until deadline day last summer for United to sign long-term target Sofyan Amrabat on loan.
After failing to impress for much of the season, Amrabat showed glimpses of why he was signed as he started the final three league matches of the campaign.
9 – Wout Weghorst
Following Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit, Ten Hag bolstered his attack by signing Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley in January 2023.
A £2.6m fee was paid to Besiktas to cancel his loan there, with Weghorst scoring just twice in 31 appearances for the Red Devils.

8 – Christian Eriksen
Christian Eriksen was rewarded for his Brentford performances by completing a free transfer to United in 2022.
After eight assists in his first season, the 32-year-old had far less of an impact during his second campaign at Old Trafford.
7 – Casemiro
The £70m deal to sign five-time Champions League winner Casemiro from Real Madrid appeared inspired as he starred for United during the 2022/23 season.
However, the Brazilian’s form has since declined drastically, with his shortcomings further highlighted after United’s injury crisis forced Ten Hag to play him at centre-back.
6 – Marcel Sabitzer
The most impactful of Ten Hag’s six loan signings, Marcel Sabitzer arrived from Bayern Munich in January 2023.
His six-month stay at United saw the Austrian score three goals and provide one assist from midfield in 18 appearances.
5 – Tyrell Malacia
Ten Hag returned to the Netherlands to recruit Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord for £12.9m after his appointment by United.
Malacia provided solid competition for Luke Shaw at left-back but knee surgery saw him miss the entirety of the 2023/24 season.
4 – Jonny Evans
Jonny Evans returned to United on a free transfer last summer to add depth to Ten Hag’s defence.
However, an injury crisis forced the 36-year-old to make 29 appearances this season, often proving to be their best defender.
3 – Andre Onana
Another former Ajax star, Andre Onana reunited with Ten Hag last summer following a £47.2m deal.
The goalkeeper has been a consistent performer since replacing David de Gea with a series of stunning saves, although he has also suffered several notable errors.

2 – Rasmus Hojlund
United paid Atalanta £72m for Rasmus Hojlund in 2023 to sign the 21-year-old Danish striker.
Despite waiting until Boxing Day for his first Premier League goal, Hojlund’s 16 strikes across all competitions were more than any other United player last season.
1 – Lisandro Martinez
Yet another former Ajax star, World Cup winner Lisandro Martinez also arrived during Ten Hag’s first window for £56.7m.
The defender quickly became a fan favourite despite injuries forcing him to miss 36 matches during the 2023/24 season.
