Why is the roof closed for England’s Euro 2024 clash against Denmark?

Euro 2024 in Germany has been plagued with bad weather so far – and the forecast suggests the bad weather could continue for England‘s match against Denmark.

Uefa made the decision to shut the roof of the stadium on Wednesday, hours before England’s clash with Denmark.

It was initially shut to protect the pitch for Dains’ training session on the morning of the match.

And the roof was not reopened on Thursday morning as a ‘precautionary measure’.

What result do England need against Denmark to qualify for the knockout stages?

England will qualify top of Group C if they beat Denmark tonight.

If the Three Lions draw with the Danes, they would be two points clear at the top of the group and they would have to beat Slovenia on the final match day to finish top.

England are currently on three points, Slovenia are on two points, while Denmark and Serbia have one each.

If England qualify top, they will play the third-place team from Group D, E or F on Sunday, June 30 at 5pm BST in Gelsenkirchen.
