Euro 2024 viewers will be disappointed to discover that there are only two games on today for the first time this tournament – but it’s for a good reason.

The action is well underway in Germany, with the opening matches producing its fair share of high-scoring games, world-class goals and shock upsets.

Many fans not in attendance have been glued to their TV screens for the past three days watching matches at 2pm, 5pm and 8pm each day.

However, that is set to change on Tuesday as just two fixtures are scheduled to take place as Turkey take on Georgia while Portugal face off against the Czech Republic at 5pm and 8pm respectively.

Why is this the case today? Let’s find out…

Why is there no 2pm Euros game today?

Although the lack of a third game today may come as a disappointment, it has been common practice over the last two editions since the competition rose from 16 to 24 teams in 2016.

With the tournament opener now reserved as a standalone fixture for the first Friday, the knock-on effect means that the first set of group-stage fixtures features just two games rather than three.

However, fear not, as Euro 2024 returns in all its three-game-a-day glory tomorrow as Germany face Hungary, Scotland take on Switzerland and Croatia play Albania.

Looking ahead to the final round of group-stage fixtures – starting Sunday June 23 – some days will feature just two games, while others will feature a whopping four.
