It’s been a tough week for Ed Kelce, father of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
Ed’s longtime partner and girlfriend, Maureen Maguire, died at age 74 on August 1. Maureen’s obituary included a special section reflecting on her relationship with Ed.
“She also grew an unexpected love for football later in life, sharing many laughs and adventures with her beloved friend Ed Kelce and her loyal dog Butch,” the obituary read. “Together, they traveled often and attended football games and concerts, and embraced every opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest.”
In many photos featured on Maureen’s Facebook page, she’s rocking Kelce’s No. 87 jersey alongside Ed.

Ed Kelce’s Late Girlfriend Got To Spend Quality Time With Travis Kelce & Taylor Swift Before Her Death
As condolences poured in for Papa Kelce, he reflected on happier times with his late girlfriend that featured Swift. In a new picture he shared on the obituary page, the 14-time Grammy winner is holding what appears to be a homemade card and friendship bracelet. All three are decked out in Chiefs gear.
Ed credits Maureen for giving him a heads-up on who Swift was before meeting her for the first time. During an appearance on Audacy’s 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland, the Chiefs star’s dad admitted he couldn’t remember the singer’s name.
“When Travis has a lot of friends coming into town to go to the game, everyone meets at his house, although he’s not there… They have a shuttle that comes and picks everybody up and takes them to the game,” Ed said, while noting it’s impossible to remember everyone who was there that day.
“And Taylor comes in, walks in with a security guard and I look at her… and I had my girlfriend with me and I mention to Maureen, ‘Oh, my God, I know this kid but I don’t know what her name is.’ Geez, you know, like a real idiot.”
Maureen quipped back, “‘You don’t know her? This is Taylor Swift, you idiot.’”
Maureen is survived by two siblings, three children, six grandchildren.
