Home favourite Jack Draper begins his Wimbledon campaign on Tuesday against Sebastian Baez.

The British world number one, 23, takes on Argentina’s Baez on Court 1 as he eyes his first meaningful run at SW19.

Draper is yet to reach the third round of Wimbledon but is expected to go fairly deep this year following an impressive 12 months in which he reached the semi-finals of the US Open and reached the fourth round of both the Australian and French Opens.

The world number four is up last on Court 1 and follows two intriguing games involving world number one Jannik Sinner and two-time champion Petra Kvitova.

Sinner, seeking his first Wimbledon title after wins at the Australian and US Open, faces Italy’s Luca Nardi, while Kvitova takes on world number eight Emma Navarro.

On Centre Court, defending champion Barbora Krejcikova begins her title defence against Alexandra Eala from 1.30pm.

Novak Djokovic, one of the best players in history, then starts his quest for an eighth Wimbledon title against Alexandre Muller.

Draper represents Britain’s best chance of a deep run at this year’s Wimbledon and Mats Wilander insists he has what it takes to reach the final.

‘I don’t think that I’m necessarily expecting him to reach the semi-finals,’ he told TNT Sports. ‘I think he has a chance. I think he has a chance to get to the finals.

‘But I don’t know if he can win the title with Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic in the draw.

‘I mean, you could play all three of those guys, which is pretty unbelievable. But anyway, Jack Draper has a chance to do something good, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

‘Either way, I think he’s going to play a great tournament and play great individual matches.’

Draper feels ‘a long way off’ Alcaraz and Sinner

But Draper himself feels he is still a way off the level of world number one Sinner and defending Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz.

‘It’s time, it’s experience – they have much more of that than me right now,’ Draper said in an interview with the Evening Standard.

‘They are similar ages, but they’ve been on tour being a top player maybe a couple of years more than I have.

‘What they’ve been able to do is incredibly impressive. The results and titles speak for themselves.

‘I’m still a long way from where they’re at. I aspire to be with them, but right now I’ve got to focus on myself and work hard to prove that I can get to their level.’
