Wings’ Paige Bueckers Shares Inspiring Stephen Curry Quote Amid Difficult Season

Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings’ 2025 season is close to ending, especially after being no longer eligible for the WNBA playoffs. Despite that, she used a motivational Stephen Curry quote to keep her mindset in the right place.

Bueckers and the Wings just came off a brutal 100-78 loss to the Atlanta Dream on Friday night. It marked their 31st loss of the season as they have yet to earn their 10th win.

Before the Golden State Warriors’ dynasty came to be, the team had to build a contender around Curry. He shared the following post on X, formerly Twitter, in 2009 during his rookie year in the league.

“Promise to all the Warrior fans…we will figure this thing out…if it’s the last thing we do we will figure it out,” Curry wrote.

Paige Bueckers used this same quote when she talked about what her message is to fans amid the Wings’ struggling campaign.

“I mean, just to stick with it, like, whoever we have in that locker room, whoever puts on a Wings jersey that night, that’s who we’re going to war with,” Bueckers told reporters, via Joey Mistretta. “And that’s what we believe in… We don’t need exterior belief, like, in that locker room we feel like we have enough, and we’re always gonna fight and show up that way. And I remember Steph Curry, before the Warriors became the Warriors, like, he tweeted out, like, ‘just stick with us… We’re gonna figure it out.’”

“That’s the message… The people we have here and the belief that I have in, like, the core and the pieces that we’re building and how we’re doing it, I just have this undying belief in it. I know that we continue to do things the right way, we continue to believe in each other, continue to invest our whole lives into this basketball thing, the results will come.”

It’s a great answer for Paige Bueckers to have, knowing that the Wings’ time to rise will come while they get past their current struggles. Their loss to the Dream will further serve as a growing lesson for the rebuilding squad.

The game was initially close as Dallas led 21-19 after the first quarter. However, Atlanta took control by outscoring them 30-19 in the second period to lead 49-40 at halftime. Even though the Wings took the third quarter by a 27-22 margin, the Dream responded with a 29-11 display in the fourth quarter to win in convincing fashion.

Shot accuracy, rebounding and playmaking played huge impacts in the matchup. The Dream shot 55.1% overall, including 45.5% from downtown, and 75% from the charity stripe. They pulled this off while grabbing 31 rebounds and creating 32 assists. This wasn’t the case for the Wings, having shooting splits of 45.2%, 27.8% and 77.8%. They also couldn’t match Dallas after finishing with 26 rebounds and 20 assists.

Four players scored in double-digits on Dallas’ behalf. Maddy Siegrist led the way with 23 points, five rebounds, a steal, and a block. She shot 10-of-17 from the field, including 3-of-4 from three. Bueckers came next with 16 points and 10 assists, Myisha Hines-Allen had 11 points and six rebounds, while Amy Okonkwo provided 11 points and six rebounds.

Dallas fell to a 9-31 record on the season, being at the bottom of the Western Conference standings. They are 9.5 games behind the Los Angeles Sparks and 11.5 games behind the Golden State Valkyries.

The Wings will look to end their seven-game losing streak in their next matchup, being on the road. They face the Minnesota Lynx on Sept. 1 at 8 p.m. ET.
