Wolves forward Mattheus Cunha has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association after clashing with a member of Ipswich Town’s staff following Saturday’s Premier League fixture.

Tempers flared at full-time after Jack Taylor’s stoppage-time header secured a dramatic 2-1 win for Ipswich.

Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri was sent off after the full-time whistle and was dragged away by teammate Craig Dawson as he looked to confront the opposition.

Cunha, meanwhile, was seen pushing an Ipswich Town staff member in the face, which knocked off his glasses.

The Brazillian, who scored his eighth league goal of the season in Saturday’s loss, now faces the possibility of a lengthy ban after being charged by the FA for his actions.

A statement read: ‘Matheus Cunha has been charged with misconduct following the Premier League match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ipswich Town on Saturday, 14 December.

‘The forward allegedly acted in an improper manner after the final whistle. He has until Thursday, 19 December, to provide a response.’

Defeat against their relegation rivals made it four losses in a row for Wolves who sacked manager Gary O’Neil the following day.

The midlands side sit 19th in the table – five points from safety – with just two wins from their first 16 games.

But they have moved swiftly to appoint a replacement, with reports suggesting a deal is now in place with Al-Shabab manager Vitor Pereira.

Pereira has previously won two Primeira Liga titles with Porto and the Greek Super League with Olympiakos.

His Al-Shabab side currently sit sixth in the Saudi Pro League with seven wins from 13 games.

O’Neil was not the only top-flight manager to lose their job on Sunday, with Southampton parting ways with Russell Martin following their 5-0 home defeat against Tottenham.
