A momumental return may be in the books as CM Punk was left all alone at the end of WWE: Clash in Paris. Seth Rollins retained his World Heavyweight Championship after Becky Lynch laid out the “Best in the World”.
Lynch’s attack came on the heels of Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed being ejected from the arena. Their post-match attack on Roman Reigns left Rollins all alone, so we thought. Instead, “The Visionary” proved that he’s always one step ahead.
WWE Begins to Tease a Potential AJ Lee Return
AJ Lee has not had a match since March 3, 2015. The former three-time Divas Champion left the company that year and has completely distanced herself from WWE. While her husband, CM Punk, made his earth-shattering return in 2023, Lee has kept her distance.
Even though she appeared on WOW: Women’s of Wrestling, Lee made it very clear that she didn’t want to appear for the company as a professional wrestler. She has been back in the ring though as she was a key piece of the “Heels” TV series, which Punk was also part of.
With Punk clearly not about to fight the Women’s Intercontinental Champion by himself, it only makes sense that WWE began to tease AJ Lee’s return. While it’s been ten years, they seem to be heading in that direction.

“I can’t help but think, look, this man CM Punk, he has a wife too. I know her pretty well. I’m just saying!” Big E said on the Clash in Paris post-show. Jackie Redmond responded, “Are you saying that this opens a certain door to maybe, AJ Lee.”
While those two were speaking about the former Divas champion, Punk shrugged as he grabbed a sign that read, “Bring Back AJ Lee!”
The CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins Rivalry Continues
Whether CM Punk asked for this or not, he’s been attached to Seth Rollins tip for basically his entire WWE return run. The two had a fantastic match on the inaugural RAW on Netflix, followed by a Steel Cage bout two months later. Things escalated into the main event of WrestleMania, a match that also involved Roman Reigns.
The year prior, McIntyre and Punk’s blood feud had a match at Summerslam that saw Rollins become the Special Guest Referee. Going back to 2025, they were in the same Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber match.
There has been more traction for an AJ Lee return as of late than in previous years.

Rollins shocked the world when he faked his leg injury and cashed in on Punk at Summerslam this year. Everything Punk worked for was taken away from him in the blink of an eye. With Chicago’s own being a second away from winning his title back in Paris, Lynch made sure her husband stood tall in the end.
Punk’s issues with “The Vision” seem far from over. With WarGames looming, one would have to expect Heyman’s group would be involved in the iconic match. All things considered, Punk did make his return at the end of 2023’s WarGames. Knowing the situation, does WWE wait another few months to pull the trigger on AJ Lee’s return?
