Yankees’ Aaron Boone Seemingly Makes Giancarlo Stanton Decision

The New York Yankees have plenty to do at the trade deadline, but it’s important that the team is finally getting healthy. After losing to the Boston Red Sox again on Saturday night, 4-3, the Yankees need to find a way to get healthy.

If this team wants to be the squad it is looking to be, it has to come in the health department.

With an expected return soon, skipper Aaron Boone announced before the Yankees game against the Red Sox on Saturday that slugger Giancarlo Stanton is expected to return against the Los Angeles Angels, who the Yankees play on Monday night in a four-game set in the Bronx.

As long as Stanton can stay healthy for the rest of the year, this should be a step in the right direction for a Yankees team that looks to be getting healthy when it matters most.

“I did talk to him today, he feels good,” Boone said before the Yankees faced the Red Sox, per the Post. “So we’ll see what that means. But I expect him in some way, shape or form in the Angels series to be in play.”

Is Giancarlo Stanton’s injury a blessing for Yankees?

Stanton has been playing in the minors throughout the past week on a rehab assignment, trying to get at-bats.

After dealing with two elbow injuries, it remained uncertain how he’d look.

According to an anonymous scout, things weren’t exactly pretty for him at times, and he also blasted Stanton for not being able to stay on the field for the New York Yankees.

While that’s tough to disagree with, Stanton was excellent for the Yankees in the postseason last year, winning the American League Championship Series MVP.

“This elbow (injury), the timing was perfect for the Yankees,” Miller quoted a different unnamed scout.

“Stanton can’t play a full year anymore, so instead of 6-7 months the Yankees are getting him for the last three. If I’m (GM Brian) Cashman, I’m thinking this is going to work out.”

He later added that Stanton didn’t look great on the field, and criticized his running, but that’s been an issue for him over the past few years.

Ultimately, the Yankees aren’t worried about him getting down the line.

“He turned on a couple off-speed pitches in his first game,” he said. “They were legit line drives into the gaps. For the first time out, his swing looked pretty good. One ball he smoked one-hopped the wall in left-center. The outfielder thought it was routine and it went over his head. He got a single out of it.”

Giancarlo Stanton’s Lockeroom Attitude

Stanton is the type of player that the New York Yankees love to have, as he’s one of the best teammates any player could ask for.

When the Yankees received their American League Championship rings, Stanton told reporters that he didn’t want to see anybody wearing them. This is the type of player he is, giving the Yankees an edge as he comes back from a tough injury on Monday.

“This isn’t the one we wanted, boys,” Stanton said during the ceremony, per MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch. “The one that we want is in front of us. I’d better not see any of you guys wearing these around.”
