All lanes of the 405 Freeway through the Sepulveda Pass reopened early Monday following weekend closures to accommodate Caltrans road improvements, but more overnight closures are planned over the next few days.
The weekend closures began at 10 p.m. Friday, blocking three lanes in each direction as part of the $143.7 million, I-405 Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Van Nuys and Westwood.
According to Caltrans, “Extended weekend lane closures will occur about every two weeks along various sections of I-405 for approximately 25 weekends.”
And beginning Tuesday night, some lanes will be closed during the overnight hours as crews work on the median barriers.
Caltrans officials said the overnight closures will begin at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, continuing until 6 a.m. the following mornings. Up to two lanes on both the northbound and southbound freeway between Wilshire Boulevard and Mulholland Drive/Skirball Center Drive are expected to be affected.
