Georgios Frangulis, Aryna Sabalenka’s Boyfriend: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

Georgios Frangulis, the boyfriend of WTA world No. 1 and US Open finalist Aryna Sabalenka, has been a staple of the three-time Grand Slam champ’s player box throughout the 2025 season.


But who is the multi-million dollar entrepreneur? Here’s what you need to know:

#1: He Was Born in Brazil to Greek Parents

While Georgios Frangulis was born and raised in Brazil, his family comes from Greece.

According to Elle, Frangulis’ grandfather (also named Georgios) emigrated from Thessaloniki, the second-largest city in Greece, to Brazil. Although Frangulis wasn’t raised in Greece, he was quoted by the Greek Herald as saying that he feels, quote, “100% Greek.”

“I can say we were always a Greek family, in how we see the world, our values, and the way I was raised. I feel 100% Greek,”


 

#2: He Went to Law School, but Decided to Become an Entrepreneur

Although Frangulis studied law at Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado, a private university in Sao Paolo, he wound up becoming an entrepreneur instead, founding Oakberry, an acai-based food brand that has spread across the world.

As he explained in an interview with Forbes Brazil in 2023, he knew his future wasn’t in law:

“I always knew I wouldn’t be a lawyer. What I really wanted was to be an entrepreneur.”

Now, Oakberry is one of Aryna Sabalenka’s main sponsors.


 

#3: He Previously Battled Thyroid Cancer

In the aforementioned interview with Forbes Brazil, Frangulis opened up on his first marriage to a woman named Isabella Armentano in 2016.

As he explained, the two wed months after he was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer in the summer of 2016.

“I never told anyone, but in August 2016, I found out I had thyroid cancer, a four-centimeter nodule that the doctor said needed to be removed to determine the treatment.

“I got married on October 1st; I used the last money I had to pay for the wedding bar; I had surgery on October 16th and managed to open the first Oak store in São Paulo on December 6th, because I was hit by a kind of divine ray when I needed it most, and least expected it.”


 

#4: His “Spiritual Side” Is Important to Him

Although it’s unclear whether Frangulis is Greek Orthodox, the predominant religion in Greece, he stated in the aforementioned Forbes Brazil article that he goes to church quite a bit.

As he explained, his beliefs were influenced by both sides of his family:

“I go to church a lot, talking to God does me good. I was influenced by both branches of the family. The spiritual side has always been important to me, as well as intuition.”


#5: He’s Raced in 100+ Motorsport Events

Aryna Sabalenka isn’t the only athlete in this relationship, Georgios Frangulis has also notably competed in motorsport races.

In addition to his role with Oakberry, Frangulis raced as an Oakberry driver in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge.

Per Driver Database, he’s competed in 128 races, but hasn’t competed since 2023.

In the aforementioned Forbes Brazil interview, he opened up on racing, saying:

“The Porsche Cup races and training sessions are almost always on weekends. So, if I maintain a routine of physical training in my daily life, in addition to psychological support to cope with the pressure [therapy twice a week], I’m always prepared for the moment of driving. Getting in the car and racing is one of the few moments when nothing else matters.”
