Hayward man and woman hospitalized after their vehicle crashes into Dublin home

DUBLIN — A Hayward man and his wife were hospitalized Sunday after their airborne car crashed into a house and ended up on top of a parked SUV, authorities said.

The crash happened about 3:45 p.m. Sunday on Bay Laurel Court, a cul-de-sac.

Police said an 82-year-old Hayward man was driving the 2015 Toyota Camry that crashed and that his 82-year-old wife was the passenger.

The vehicle somehow became partially airborne before crashing into the house and ending up on top of a parked SUV.

Both occupants were taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said. It was not known if they were still hospitalized Monday.

No one inside the home was injured, police said.

Dublin police Capt. Miguel Campos said the preliminary investigation revealed “pedal confusion was the cause of the collision” and that alcohol or drugs were not factors.
