Cafe closes for ‘restructuring’

Cafe Dio, located around the corner from Los Gatos High School, is undergoing some changes. The upscale cafe, offering Greek and American fare, temporarily closed as of May 15 for “restructuring purposes.”

“To ensure that we continue to meet and exceed your expectations in providing you with the best service and experience possible, we have decided to restructure our café management and staff,” Cafe Dio’s website reads. “Our goal is to enhance the quality of our offerings and the overall atmosphere of the café.”

Julian Platis, a member of Cafe Dio’s management team, said in an email that he anticipates reopening within the next few weeks. For more information, visit cafedio.com.

Johnny Was downtown

Los Gatos residents may have spotted a new addition to the retail scene on North Santa Cruz Avenue this summer: the upscale California-based women’s clothing store, Johnny Was.

Located at 2 N. Santa Cruz Ave., near Oren’s Hummus and Town Plaza Park, Johnny Was sells vintage-inspired “boho-chic” clothing, a fragrance and candle collection, accessories and homeware.

“Every time I go by the new Johnny Was store on the corner of Santa Cruz and East Main, I admire the beautiful painting on the building done by real artists on scaffolding,” former Los Gatos mayor Sandy Decker said. “I’m thrilled we are attracting this level of retail, and it appears they are committed to making their store in Los Gatos a unique statement.”

Johnny Was is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day except Sunday, when its hours are noon to 5 p.m..
