Man dead, 3 injured in crash after motorist runs red light in East Garfield Park

A man was dead and three people injured in a crash early Sunday in East Garfield Park on the West Side.


A blue Ford sedan with four occupants was going east in the 3800 block of West Lake Street around 3:50 a.m. when the driver, a 20-year-old man, ran a red light and struck a Chevy going south, Chicago police said.

A 22-year-old passenger in the Ford was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver and two other passengers, both 20-year-old men, were taken to Stroger Hospital with unspecified injuries, officials said. They were in fair condition.

The driver and passenger in the Chevy refused medical attention, officials said.

Charges were pending.
