A motorist died after slamming into a median early Friday on the outbound Bishop Ford Freeway on the city’s Far South Side.
About 5:50 a.m., a 54-year-old woman behind the wheel of a white GMC SUV struck a median near 115th Street and was ejected from the SUV, Illinois State Police said.
The driver died, according to state police. She was identified as Durinda Buchanan by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
All southbound lanes of the Bishop Ford near 115th Street remained closed and traffic is being diverted at 115th Street, officials said.
No further information was immediately available.
