REDWOOD CITY — Police arrested a man Thursday on suspicion of sexual battery after he allegedly inappropriately touched a woman while riding past on a bike, authorities said.
The suspect, a 33-year-old man from Redwood City, was arrested just before noon, authorities said. He was later identiified as a suspect in several other sexual battery cases, they added.
The victim had been standing at the southwest corner of Broadway and Jefferson Avenue when the suspect rode past her on a bicycle and grabbed her inappropriately before continuing to ride eastbound, authorities said.
In their investigation, police obtained security footage and canvassed the surrounding area, authorities said. The suspect was observed by officers on the 1000 block of Middlefield Road, where he was contacted by police. He was then identified as the suspect in the video footage and arrested.
Authorities have since identified the man as the suspect in three separate Redwood City sexual battery cases that occurred since July, police said. In each instance, he allegedly targeted women in public.
The suspect was booked into Maguire Correctional Facility on suspicion of sexual battery.
Authorities believe that there may be additional victims and ask anyone with similar experiences or additional information to contact RCPD at 650-780-7100.
