A 2-year-old boy died after accidentally shooting himself Monday afternoon in Chatham on the South Side, police said.
About 1 p.m., Kh’aden Johnson suffered an “accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound” to his face in the 300 block of East 87th Street, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
He was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead about 4:45 p.m.
A person of interest who was transported to Area 2, was released without being charged.
