
EL CERRITO — A 57-year-old woman who was walking Friday morning died after being hit by a car, police said.
The maroon Subaru Outback hit the woman about 5:40 a.m. in the 1700 block of Eastshore Boulevard. Police said the driver remained at the scene and was cooperative. Police did not make an arrest.
Authorities did not identify the woman immediately, pending notification of her relatives.
In a statement, police said the woman was mid-block on Eastshore Boulevard when the Subaru Outback hit her as it was going north. Fire personnel and paramedics responded to the scene, but the woman died there despite their efforts to save her.
Police asked anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who knows anything about it to contact them at 510-215-4400.
