
EL CERRITO — A 66-year-old woman who was hit by a vehicle last month while walking died Thursday from her injuries, police said.
Authorities did not identify the victim immediately, pending notification of relatives.
In a statement, police said the collision happened on Nov. 15 about 2:20 p.m. on San Pablo Avenue at Waldo Avenue. She was unresponsive when rescue crews arrived.
A medical helicopter airlifted the woman to the trauma center of the John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where she had remained until her death.
Police said the driver that hit the woman stayed at the scene and cooperated. They did not indicate whether they had reason to believe the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Police said they were they were considering presenting unspecified criminal suspicions to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office once the autopsy is completed.
