Earlier this year, former Tottenham and Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas was elected president of his boyhood club.
Amid last night’s chaos, the 47-year-old, who managed Porto to a treble back in 2011, went out to speak to supporters.
Flanked by director of football Jorge Costa, Villas-Boas braved the rain to attempt to speak to furious fans.
The pair were joined by a heavy security presence as they did so.
Porto finished third last season, 18 points behind Ruben Amorim‘s Sporting.
They already trail the new Manchester United boss’ former side by six points, with Sporting having won 11 out of 11 games in the league thus far.
Prior to their cup exit Porto were trounced 4-1 by Benfica, having just lost 2-1 to Lazio in the Europa League.
