‘Big Brother’ Star Challenges Boston Rob to the Ultimate ‘Survivor’ vs. ‘Big Brother’ Showdown

‘Big Brother’ Star Challenges Boston Rob to the Ultimate ‘Survivor’ vs. ‘Big Brother’ Showdown

After celebrating multiple runs on “Survivor” and “The Amazing Race,” Rob “Boston Rob” Mariano may be preparing to complete the CBS reality competition series trifecta with an appearance on “Big Brother” after being challenged to compete on the show by former champion Derrick Levasseur.

Former ‘Big Brother’ Champs Wants to Go Head-to-Head with Boston Rob

The proposition came during the August 21 live eviction episode of “Big Brother 27,” with Levasseur suggesting that Mariano join in on a hypothetical “Survivor” vs. “Big Brother” season of the show. Levasseur confirmed the seriousness of his challenge to the former “Survivor” champ, telling longtime “Big Brother” host Julie Chen Moonves that he would love to participate in the ultimate CBS reality series showdown.

“If [Boston Rob agrees,] maybe I’ll come back. ‘Big Brother vs. Survivor,’” proposed Levasseur.

Levasseur’s “Survivor” vs. “Big Brother” pitch comes just weeks after CBS confirmed that the forthcoming season of “The Amazing Race” will feature a cast composed entirely of former “Big Brother” cast members and their loved ones.

Despite the suggestion being met with cheers from fans in the audience, Mariano, who similarly joined the live broadcast as a special guest, told Moonves that he’s not sure he could handle the lengthy house-bound competition.

“I’ll tell you what, Julie. I think you got a shelter over your head, we’re eating. However, all summer with these lunatics, I don’t know,” said Mariano.

While not a firm “no” from the “Survivor: Redemption Island” champ, the chances of seeing Boston Rob on a future all-stars season of “Big Brother” are slim. After recent appearances on the casts of other reality series like “The Traitors” and “Deal of No Deal Island,” Mariano has reported his interest in retiring from the circuit.

Mariano’s prospective participation is even less likely given the extensive three-month time commitment that comes along with playing a season of “Big Brother,” nearly three times longer than it takes to film the average “Survivor” season.

That being said, it remains possible that Mariano might reconsider the offer if an abbreviated format, similar to the month-long one used on “Celebrity Big Brother,” was adopted. The star was even reportedly scouted to take part in the third season of the all-celebrity spin-off late last year.

Boston Rob wouldn’t be the first “Survivor” player to make the switch to the “Big Brother” franchise, with former series stars like Hayden Moss (“Survivor: South Pacific”) and Cirie Fields (“Survivor 50”) having competed on “Big Brother” seasons 12 and 25, respectively.

While fans might not see Boston Rob competing on “Big Brother” anytime soon, the “Survivor” legend is rumored to be appearing as a special guest on a new episode of the “Big Brother: Unlocked” after show tonight, Friday, August 22, at 8:00pm ET.

With Levasseur acting as one of the show’s hosts, its possible that the duo will revisit the proposition in the forthcoming episode.
