The Philadelphia Eagles managed to find a way to win their third straight game in 2025, as they pulled off a 19-point second-half comeback against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday to earn a 33-26 victory. The large deficit wasn’t the only thing the Eagles had to overcome in this game, as they also lost several key players to injury along the way.
Among the players who were forced out of the game early was starting right tackle Lane Johnson, as he suffered a neck stinger that he was unable to return from. That forced backup tackle Fred Johnson into action, and after the game, he earned a special shoutout from head coach Nick Sirianni for his strong play against the Rams.

Philadelphia features arguably the most talented offensive line in the league, but of that group, Lane Johnson may just be the best of the bunch. So when he was forced out of the game early, it seemed like the Eagles could be in trouble, and it wasn’t much of a surprise to see them struggle in the immediate aftermath of his departure.
With another Johnson, Fred Johnson, waiting in the wings, though, Philly is well protected in the event of an injury on their offensive line. After winning Super Bowl LIX with the Eagles last year, Fred signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars over the offseason, hoping to earn a starting job on their o-line. That didn’t happen, and before the start of the season, Philadelphia swung a trade with Jacksonville to bring him back to town.
For one game at least, the move paid dividends, as Fred ended up finding his footing and helping the Eagles mount an impressive comeback against the Rams. It may not have been recognized by every fan watching the game, but Sirianni revealed after the game just how appreciative he was of Fred for filling in for Lane in this big win.
“Fred did a great job, just like Fred did last year in certain situations, to come in and play meaningful football,” Sirianni said when speaking to reporters after the game. “It took a couple of series to go there … Making that change, that’s hard to do sometimes, and I credit those guys a lot for that change.”

The Eagles aren’t exactly dominating their opponents like they were down the stretch of last season, but they are still undefeated heading into Week 4, which is all that matters. They certainly have some issues they need to clean up after this game against Los Angeles, but that’s a lot easier to do after a win than after a loss.
Through three games, Philadelphia has faced a very difficult schedule, and things won’t get any easier for them in Week 4, as they will take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who also have a 3-0 record heading into this one. The Bucs are pretty beat up, though, so even with this game taking place in enemy territory, the Eagles should have a good shot at improving to 4-0 when this game kicks off at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
