A 4-year-old who was hit by a minivan in West Ridge Wednesday night outside her home has died, according to Chicago police.
Juslene Akeza was crossing the street in the 6200 block of North Talman Avenue at 5:43 p.m. when a 72-year-old driver going north hit her, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. Juslene was taken to St. Francis Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 6:15 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said.
The driver was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and failure to enact due care to avoid a pedestrian, police said. The crash remains under investigation.
