Homer Gere has landed his first big acting role on HBO’s teen drama “Euphoria” â and the 26-year-old says he still calls his famous dad every day.
Gere is the son of actors Richard Gere, 76, and Carey Lowell, 65. Richard is, of course, famous for his roles in iconic movies like 1980’s neo-noir crime drama “American Gigolo,” 1982’s romantic drama “An Officer and a Gentleman,” and 1990’s rom-com “Pretty Woman” (per IMDb). Lowell, meanwhile, who is also a former model, is best known for her role on police procedural series “Law & Order” and for playing Bond girl Pam Bouvier in 1989’s spy thriller “Licence to Kill” (per IMDb).
However, it appears Homer is ready to step out of his parents’ respective shadows and create his own acting legacy in season 3 of Sam Levinson’s Zendaya-led series.
Richard Gere Gives His Son ‘Great Advice’
GettyIn a conversation with Entertainment Tonight’s Deidre Behar at the premier of season 3 of “Euphoria,” Homer Gere described how his “first real set experience” on the show was “wild.” Gere explained that it was like “jumping in at the deep end,” as he found out he had won the role just two days before he started filming.
Behar asked Homer if his father had given him any advice regarding his role. He replied, “He gives great advice. It’s not necessarily related to the craft, but more like how you carry yourself, how do you make this work in a positive way.”
Homer then explained “I mean, I’m calling him every day.” Adding, “we’re close, so having that kind of sounding board constantly is amazing.”
Homer Gere Is Playing Dylan Reid in ‘Euphoria’
GettyHomer Gere is playing Dylan Reid in “Euphoria.” He is expected to appear in all eight episodes of the third season. In the show, Dylan is depicted as a famous “heartthrob” actor and a client managed by Alexa Demie’s Maddy Perez.
The budding star described his role as, “an actor playing an actor playing a character,” which Behar subsequently described as “very meta.”
He was relatively tight-lipped on the specifics of who he worked with, but he did say he had no scenes with Zendaya, and that he had a particularly positive experience acting alongside Sharon Stone. Stone is playing a new character in season 3 called Patricia Lance. Lance is a television producer working with Homer Gere’s Dylan Reid.
Gere said, “I had some good stuff with Sharon Stone. I’ll say Sharon Stone is the best. We had scenes together. She’s the most lovely woman.”
He also briefly touched upon his upcoming role in FX’s teen horror-thriller “The Shards,” saying, “Doing The Shards, I mean it’s incredible. Ryan Murphy is a real… he’s a genius. He sees everything at every level. So getting to be directed by him, a couple of episodes, is really great. And to know him, he’s a lovely guy.”
We’d like to wish Homer Gere well in his role in “Euphoria” and his upcoming role in “The Shards.” Hopefully, he can emulate his parents’ success in the acting world going forward.
