Beloved “Star Trek” legend William Shatner made a rare public appearance following brain cancer rumors.

On Saturday, the 95-year-old actor, best known for his iconic role as Captain Kirk, took the stage for a panel discussion at the BMO Centre during the Calgary Expo in Alberta, Canada.

Shatner touched on a variety of topics at the event, including memories from filming “Star Trek” in the late 60s, per the Daily Mail.

The veteran actor kept things casual with a tan jacket, matched with a button-up top and blue trousers. Shatner was all smiles as he interacted with the audience, taking questions from fans.

‘Star Trek’ Star William Shatner’s Brain Cancer Rumors

Shatner’s latest outing comes shortly after he addressed cancer rumors circulating online.

Earlier this month, the actor firmly denied that he’s been diagnosed with brain cancer and was rushed to the hospital.

“My Daughter came over to tell me her daughter heard that I had brain cancer,” Shatner wrote on X at the time. “She took this photo and sent it to me to upload to prove I’m not ill. The people who are ill are those that are spreading these ridiculous stories. I’m fit as a fiddle. You don’t have to worry.”

Shatner also called out a Facebook page spreading fake news about him using AI-generated photos. The actor revealed that the said page was the source of the brain cancer rumor, as well as other malicious reports about him.

“None of these stories are true, but they apparently seem genuine enough for fans to repost them across social media and send messages of support to me and my family all while the culprits behind the account make money,” the actor said at the time. “This is the downside of AI and yellow journalism. While [it] can be a wonderful tool in the right hands; it can be used as a weapon in the wrong hands.”

William Shatner’s Prostate Cancer Diagnosis

In 2016, Shatner received a prostate cancer diagnosis after a drastic spike in his PSA (prostate-specific antigen) levels was detected. However, it turned out to be a false alarm.

“My initial reactions to the diagnosis were, I suppose, quite common: denial, fear, anger — as well as a dose of being insulted,” he wrote in an article for NBC News in 2018. “I am in my eighties; I have lived a long life, but I certainly wasn’t ready for it to end. I decided I wasn’t going gentle into that good night. I was going to fight.”

Shatner admitted that it was “really scary” when the doctor told him he had a terminal disease. This made him reflect about his life.

“But during those three months I was living with my death sentence, I spent considerable time thinking about my life,” he continued. “About the lessons I’ve learned, the places I’ve been, the miracles I’ve seen, all of those encounters and events and experiences that have been wrapped together into one great burst of energy called life.”
