Widely considered one of the biggest “sex symbols” of the 90s, Sharon Stone is still turning heads in 2026. The 68-year-old actress was flooded with compliments on May 1 after she posted a photo of herself poolside in a string bikini.
Stone cheekily covered her eyes with the leaves of a fallen twig and wrote in the caption of her post, “summers around the corner! happy Friday my loves 𥰔

Looking relaxed and confident with her blond hair pushed back, Stone’s photo wowed her 4.3 million Instagram fans. Many quickly filled her comment section with praise, including one who declared they were “speechless” about the gorgeous snapshot.

Many fans noted how much they appreciated that the pool day photo wasn’t altered to remove any so-called imperfections, and that Stone is embracing her body as-is.

At 56, Sharon Stone Said It Was a ‘Pleasure’ Still Being Called a ‘Sex Symbol’
Although she worked in Hollywood for many years before, Stone skyrocketed to fame in 1992’s “Basic Instinct,” which included a much-buzzed-about scene in which her character, going commando, uncrossed and re-crossed her legs while being interrogated. She’s acted in many other movies and shows since then, but that “sex symbol” status never left.
When Oprah Winfrey asked Stone how she felt about that label in 2014, the actress replied, “It’s a pleasure for me now. I mean, I’m gonna be 56 years old. If people want to think I’m a sex symbol, it’s, like, yeah. Think it up. You know? I mean, like, good for me.”
“And good for every other lady of my age to feel themselves as a sex symbol,” she continued. “Because why shouldn’t we feel a sex symbol in our 50s?”

Now well into her 60s, Stone has been vocal about wanting to continue helping women feel confident in their own skin at any age. In February, she posted a video taken of her speaking up after a film crew shooting at her art studio asked her to move a painting of a naked woman out of sight.
“Why in 2026 are we still afraid of aging & living in our own selves,” Stone wrote in the caption. “We are more than appearance.. we are artists, mothers, sisters, wives, nurses, teachers⦠and the list goes on!”
She continued, “We are afraid of nudity on our screens, our bodies, our home.. but not violence or every other thing we are constantly bombarded with day in and day out?”
In the video, speaking to the film crew, Stone asked, “Are we supposed to be terrified when we look in the mirror? Is it supposed to be a secret when we pee and poo and brush our teeth? Ewww! Are we supposed to look in the mirror and go, ‘Ewww!’ Why are we supposed to be afraid of our own human self?”
It’s, like, the weirdest idea in the world to me — ‘Ohhh don’t look at that!’” Stone continued, repeatedly pointing to her body. “Excuse me, I wear it every day. I get up in it, I go to sleep in it, I pee in it, I poo in it, it’s my apartment. I live here.”
