Photos obtained by People and TMZ captured the former couple side by side, all smiles, dressed up, and clearly proud.

Reese and Ryan Reunited For a Special Family Day That Was All About Deacon

Witherspoon, 50, arrived in a dark blue dress paired with a white blazer and matching heels. Phillippe, 51, kept it clean in black pants and a white button-down.

Together, they looked every bit the united parents they showed up to be.

The Whole Family Came Together for the Milestone

The day was a full family affair. Deacon’s older sister, Ava Phillippe, 26, was also on hand for the celebration.

Witherspoon’s ex-husband Jim Toth, with whom she shares 13-year-old son Tennessee, also appeared in photos from the event.

The NYU graduation brought out another famous family as well. Kate Hudson attended to celebrate her son Ryder, 22, whom she shares with ex Chris Robinson.

Hudson was joined by her fiancé, Danny Fujikawa; her parents, Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn; her 7-year-old daughter, Rani; and Ryder’s father, Matt Bellamy, who was also photographed at the ceremony.

Deacon Is Already Building a Career of His Own

Deacon is not waiting around to find his place in the world. He has been building toward one for years.

Following in the creative footsteps of both parents, he released his debut single “Long Run” in 2020 and made his acting debut in Season 3 of the Netflix series “Never Have I Ever.”

In April 2023, he released his debut album “A New Earth,” with his family showing up in force for the release party.

When the album dropped, Deacon shared a personal note on Instagram that spoke to exactly where it came from.

“All I can say is that it came from pure love, for what I do and for the people that listen,” he wrote.

He continued, “This is a story of my life, our lives, and of love and life in general; it carries thoughts and emotions that I’ve accumulated, felt, observed, bottled up, and dealt with through the last 19 years of my life. This project was created in my dorm, made by three college kids with big dreams and bigger hearts.”

It Was His Dad Who First Sparked the Love of Music

Deacon has been open about where his passion for music production began, and the answer points directly back to his father.

In a 2020 interview with Interview magazine, he recalled the moment something clicked for him as a kid.

“When I was listening to the radio in the car with my dad, something just clicked,” he said.

“I realized there’s more to making music than just being a vocalist, and that a lot of times it’s the production that makes me feel something. I asked my dad about how it works, and he taught me all the stuff he knew, and then I started watching YouTube videos.”

Witherspoon has never been quiet about her pride in what her son has built.

When “Long Run” dropped, she posted a video of herself dancing to it on Instagram with a caption that said it all. “When your kid has his first single … you gotta dance!” she wrote.
