Goodwill Southern California is holding its ‘Spring Clean Out Weekend’
For those still needing to do a little spring cleaning of cabinets and a closet or two, there’s a golden opportunity to not only do that but also contribute to local communities and help save the environment through donations.
Goodwill Southern California will hold its Spring Clean Out Weekend from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 23 to Monday, May 25, at its more than 100 locations scattered throughout the San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys, Riverside and San Bernardino counties and north of Rosecrans Avenue in Los Angeles.
What most don’t know about Goodwill is that 95 cents of every dollar generated from sales is dedicated to employment opportunities for those with barriers to sustainable employment such as the previously incarcerated, the disabled, the homeless and veterans. Services include job training, career development, employment and community programs.
Community members are not only invited to clean out their closets, but transform lives.

Donating items also support the environment by extending the life of usable items and ensuring that more items stay in circulation for longer and out of landfills.
Special prizes are awarded to those who give Goodwill two bags of used apparel at Goodwill’s retail and outlet stores, boutiques and donation centers. Daily prizes include a 65” television giveaway and multiple $100 Goodwill SoCal gift cards.
A survey conducted by the American Cleaning Institute, home of the U.S. Cleaning Products Industry, found 80 percent of Americans plan to spring clean this year. In a 2024 National Cleaning Survey found that 80 percent of Americans would rather “spring clean” than fill out their tax forms, according to a company spokesperson.
Dannielle Prevost, district manager of 13 Goodwill stores in the San Fernando Valley, said she is looking forward to this weekend. “They donate household goods and clothing for sure,” Prevost said. “Not only do we hope to be able to utilize the donations to help with our mission, but to also let them know who their donation does help.”
Prevost reiterated that customers make a difference when shopping at Goodwill. “We look forward to seeing the impact our community will make this weekend supporting our veterans because we have highlighted our veterans this month and all the other communities we serve.”
Vanessa Delayo, a district manager in the San Gabriel Valley, said she is grateful for the ongoing support from Pasadena and Los Angeles communities. “Every donation to Goodwill Southern California … celebrates the generosity of our donors and the meaningful impact their contributions make every day,” Delayo said.
