A British pop star was told that she was ‘too famous’ to be on the BBC game show Pointless.
PinkPantheress, whose real name is Victoria Walker, was catapulted to fame with chart-topping hits such as ‘Boy’s a Liar’ and ‘Just for Me’.
The 25-year-old, who began her career in 2021 while attending university, also won a Brit Award last year for British Producer of the Year.
However, speaking to the crowd during a concert in Manchester, the singer explained how she was banned from taking part in the long-running BBC show.
‘[Pointless] is my favourite trivia show and I wanted to be on the show,’ she said to the audience.
‘And I made it to before they put you on TV at the last stage. I was in Manchester, I was ready to go on TV to play Pointless.
‘Then someone comes in and he goes, wait, hold on – we know who you are… it was a “regular Pointless” it wasn’t the celebrity version. He goes you’re too famous to be on Pointless.
‘I said, babes, let me be on this TV show now. And I never ended up on Pointless because I’m too “famous”.’
As the crowd cheered in support for the 25-year-old, she explained how she would be willing to give the money she would earn from the show to charity as she desperately wants to meet host Alex Armstrong.
Speaking into the microphone, she added: ‘I’m going to go to the BBC and go let me on that TV now. You have to make things correct.’
Reacting to her comments on X, fans found her comments hilarious, as one user called Emily called for PinkPantheress ‘to be allowed on every British game/quiz show no matter how famous she gets’.
‘We need to get her on The Wheel, The Chase… Taskmaster The Traitors… and especially Pointless,’ they said.
Another user called Nelly wrote: ‘This is sending me why is PinkPantheress so funny… you don’t see that you’re on billboards charts and touring the world???’
Eric, meanwhile, added: ‘@BBC you’re missing out, get her on Pointless PRONTO,’ as Angelica also wrote: ‘I love her for even trying to get on the show.‘
Towards the end of the clip, PinkPantheress then referenced how she was formerly on the celebrity version of The Weakest Link.
The Grammy nominated singer shocked fans by making an appearance on the show just days after attending the Grammys.
Pointless typically airs on BBC One at 5:15 PM every weekday.
