Nick Reiner Is ‘Devastated’ by the Deaths of His Parents, Say Attorneys

<p id=”par-1_53″>Nick Reiner is <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/nick-reiner-charged-death-penalty-murder-parents-rob-michele-reiner.html/”>currently awaiting trial</a> for the murder of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner. As he awaits <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/nick-reiner-breaks-silence-court-1-simple-phrase.html/”>his preliminary hearing</a>, his lawyers say that Nick feels devastated by the deaths of his parents. They noted this in a petition requesting money from a trust fund established in his name.</p>

<p id=”par-2_50″>Police arrested Nick for the murder his parents in December 2025. Shortly after their deaths, police arrested him. He has pleaded not guilty, and is now seeking money from a trust fund established in his name. His lawyers argue that he deserves he should have received when he turned 30. </p>

<p id=”par-3_37″>“Nick <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/a-former-acquaintance-says-nick-reiner-hated-his-parents-long-before-the-slayings.html/”>loved his parents</a>, and he is devastated by their deaths,” they said in a probate petition. “But the facts about what did and did not happen to them are not at issue in this Trust litigation.”</p>

<p id=”par-4_16″>The petition says Nick needs money to pay his legal fees and fund his commissary account.</p>

<p id=”par-5_34″>“These distributions are non-discretionary,” the petition says. “The trust does not authorize the Trustee to condition these distribution points on any subjective assessment by the Trustee as to Nick’s intended use of those funds.”</p>

<p id=”par-7_33″>“The inmates [where he is located] have significant mental health illnesses and need to be kept alone and away from any other people or inmates,” a Los Angeles County sheriff source told <a target=”_blank” href=”https://people.com/inside-nick-reiner-s-life-in-jail-as-he-stands-accused-of-murdering-parents-solitary-confinement-and-weekly-medical-evaluations-exclusive-11881334″ rel=”noreferrer noopener”>People</a>.</p>

<p id=”par-8_28″>Doctors and mental health professionals determined Nick has a “mental disability.” He is no longer on suicide watch, but staff at the jail keep him under close observation.</p>

<p id=”par-9_54″>“He is still being monitored every 15 minutes and is being recorded when he exits his cell to go to court or for evaluations or other necessary requirements,” the source said, adding, “He is also evaluated each week by our medical professionals like psychiatrists on staff but he did not see one after court.”</p>

<p id=”par-10_34″>In 2015, Nick worked with his father on the film <em>Being Charlie</em>, which Nick co-wrote about his <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/nick-reiner-was-under-a-conservatorship-years-before-rob-and-michele-reiners-murders.html/”>struggles with addiction</a>. He said he was living on the streets at various points during his life.</p>

<p id=”par-11_20″>“I was homeless in Maine,” he told <a href=”https://people.com/celebrity/nick-reiner-rob-reiners-son-opens-up-about-drug-addiction-living-on-streets/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>People</a>, adding, “I was homeless in New Jersey. I was homeless in Texas.”</p>

<p id=”par-13_25″>“If I wanted to do it my way and not go to the programs they were suggesting, then I had to be homeless,” he said.</p>
