A second Orange County girls flag football standout has transferred to Sierra Canyon.
JSerra’s Ava Irwin, who earned The Register’s Orange County player of the year honor as a freshman in 2025, has enrolled at Sierra Canyon, Trailblazers athletic director Jon Ellinghouse confirmed Thursday.
Irwin, who plays wide receiver and defensive back, will join former Orange Lutheran quarterback Makena Cook at Sierra Canyon. Cook enrolled at Sierra Canyon earlier in the offseason.
In the fall, Irwin had 163 catches for 1,903 yards and 27 touchdowns to help JSerra (28-0) claim the CIF-SS Division 1 title.
Irwin, who is the sister of former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Trent Irwin, recorded 94 flag pulls and 15 interceptions as a safety.
She was selected CIF-SS Division 1 player of the year and first-team All-Trinity League.
Irwin will observe the section’s sit-out period for transfers, Ellinghouse said.
Cook, who will be a senior in the fall, earned Orange County player of the year in 2024 after leading the Lancers to the Division 1 championship.
