A 17-year-old girl was lured away from her friends and raped at a Surrey train station in a ‘horrific’ attack.

The teenager was attacked after a stranger approached her and her friends as they were walking to Guildford railway station on Monday, January 19, 2025.

The man approached the group at about 7pm, and when they reached the station, he tried to make the victim board a train with him.

She told him no, and he started to ask her to have sex with him, which she also declined.

After the group went outside the station again, the man separated the girl from her friends and raped her.

She managed to escape from him and run back to her friends, who were outside the station entrance.

Detectives have now released CCTV images from the station in a bid to try to find a man that they would like to speak to.

Detective Sergeant Nick Thompson from British Transport Police said: ‘The person responsible for this horrific crime targeted a vulnerable victim who was just 17 years old at the time of the attack.

‘Specialist officers continue to support her and her family as we follow all lines of enquiry as part of our ongoing investigation.

‘We understand that this incident will cause concern among the local community and I am appealing to them directly to help us identify the man in these images.

‘He may have vital information that could assist our investigation, so if you recognise him, please get in touch as soon as possible.’
