Manhunt for ‘high risk’ escaped prisoner convicted of attacking women

Police have launched a manhunt for a ‘high-risk’ prisoner convicted of attacking two women.
Marwan Jumaa, 20, escaped from North Manchester Hospital on Tuesday evening while receiving medical treatment.
Greater Manchester Police said the 20-year-old was last seen in the Radcliffe area and has links to Bury, Prestwich and Crumpsall, as well as London and West Yorkshire.
Jumaa is serving an indefinite sentence in a secure hospital after being convicted of two robberies in which two women and police officers suffered serious injuries.
Officers have warned the public not to approach him if he is spotted.
Instead, anyone who sees Jumaa is urged to call 999 immediately.
Specialist officers, including Greater Manchester Police’s Force Critical Wanted Unit, have been deployed as the search enters its second day.
Detective Superintendent Amber Waywell said: ‘We are undertaking extensive work in our search for Jumaa, utilising all necessary resources and officers in order to return him to lawful custody.
‘We have no information to suggest any intention to inflict imminent harm, but ultimately, he is a wanted and dangerous individual.
‘I fully understand that this is concerning news, but I want the public to know that we are working around the clock to find him.
‘If you believe you have seen Jumaa, or have any information, you should call 999 immediately. No matter how small you think the information is, it could greatly assist with our investigation.’
Police added that Jumaa may require medical assistance.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call 999, quoting log 3544 of July 14, 2026. Anonymous information can also be passed to Crimestoppers.
