The WNBA’s three-point contest is returning to Wintrust Arena.
All-Stars Marina Mabrey of the Tempo and Rhyne Howard of the Dream headline the six-player field announced Tuesday. They will be joined by No. 1 overall pick Azzi Fudd of the Wings, Bridget Carleton of the Fire, Natisha Hiedeman of the Storm and Janelle Salaün of the Valkyries.
The contest will begin at 7 p.m. Friday and air on ESPN as part of the opening night of WNBA All-Star festivities. The league’s new Shooting Stars competition will also take place that night at Wintrust Arena, though participants have not yet been announced.
The field features six of the league’s 10 best three-point shooters this season. Mabrey leads the WNBA with 82 made three-pointers, followed by Howard with 79. Salaün ranks fifth with 67, Carleton sixth with 65 and Hiedeman seventh with 57. Fudd is tied for 10th with 50.
Still, the list of players who will not participate is notable.
Sabrina Ionescu, who won the contest last season and also captured the title in 2023, will not defend her crown. Caitlin Clark, the the league’s most recognizable three-point shooter, also is not participating. Other prominent omissions include Kelsey Mitchell, Kayla McBride and Kelsey Plum.
The Sky have not had a player in the contest since Allie Quigley won it in Chicago in 2022. It was Quigley’s record fourth title, the most by any player in WNBA or NBA history.
