Comedian Shane Gillis made history last Friday night at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field, breaking two Guinness World Records at the same stadium that hosts his beloved Eagles.
Gillis—who grew up in Mechanicsburg, Pa.—notched two new attendance records for the largest audience for a comedian with 73,946 attendees and the most tickets sold for a comedy show by a solo comedian with 77,047 tickets.
The sold-out event is officially the biggest comedy show yet for the rising star of Netflix’s Tires, who was famously cut from Saturday Night Live‘s cast just two days after he was hired in 2019. Gillis later returned to host the late night institution in 2024 and 2025.
Dave Chappelle and Travis Kelce made appearances at the historic stand-up show, which featured several cameos from hometown heroes like West Chester, Pa. native Bam Margera from Jackass and Philly-area comics “Big” Jay Oakerson and Matt McCusker, along with a musical performance by Philly rapper Meek Mill. Eagles players Cooper DeJean and Jordan Mailata also helped kick off the event.
In a press release, Guinness World Records adjudicator Andy Glass said, “Tonight’s event was a powerful reminder that record-breaking achievements continue to capture people’s imagination around the world.”
