The distance between Brooklyn Peltz Beckham and his family couldn’t be wider this summer, despite his European holiday.
Brooklyn, 27, has been seen soaking up the sun in the south of France in the company of his godfather, Sir Elton John, 79, as his parents, David and Victoria, holiday 460 miles away in Spain.
The musician, who is a close friend to former footballer David and designer Victoria, has welcomed Brooklyn, as well as his wife Nicola, onto his yacht near Nice.
It was previously reported that Elton has played ‘peacemaker’ after the Beckham family feud erupted when Brooklyn accused his parents of trying to ‘ruin’ his relationship with his wife earlier this year.
Brooklyn and Nicola could be seen alongside Elton and his husband, David Furnish, 63, around a table on the yacht before each couple walked hand in hand along the seafront.
Meanwhile Victoria, 52, and David, 51, are across Mediterranean Sea in Formentera alongside sons Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 21, daughter Harper, 15, and Romeo’s girlfriend, Kim Turnbull.
Elton is reportedly in contact with both sides of the family, and maintains a strong bond with his godson.
A source told The Sun: ‘Nothing has changed. That is to say, neither party has reached out to the other.
‘It’s devastating and, of course, David and Victoria would love nothing more than for their eldest boy to be with them on holiday.
‘Instead, Brooklyn is living it up in the South of France with Elton, who has previously tried playing peacemaker — albeit to no avail.’
They added: ‘Elton loves Brooklyn dearly and understands better than anyone the pressures of fame and families falling out.
‘He was estranged from his own mum for a few years before making up with her.
‘He has tried speaking to both sides, but also respects Brooklyn’s wish for silence. The only thing that will heal this rift is time.’
In January, Brooklyn finally responded to rumours that there had been an almighty rift in the family that had been brewing for years.
After there was first speculation in 2022, there had been a fallout around the time of his wedding to Nicola; Brooklyn and his wife largely put on a united front with his family – but last year started to distance themselves.
The couple were noticeably absent from milestone family events, including celebrations for David’s 50th birthday and his knighthood ceremony. In addition, none of the Beckhams were invited to Brooklyn and Nicola’s vow renewal ceremony last summer.
Although both sides stayed tight-lipped for months on what was happening, in January, Brooklyn dropped his bombshell statement on social media, accusing his parents of ‘controlling’ him and declaring that he now was ‘standing up’ for himself.
Despite David and Victoria largely choosing to avoid speaking publicly about the ongoing dispute, she finally spoke out in an interview with the Wall Street Journal in April.
‘I think that we’ve always – we love our children so much. We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be,’ she explained.
‘And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that’s all I really want to say about it.’
Brooklyn, however, has insisted there will be no reunion with his parents any time soon, saying: ‘Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.
‘I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.’
