The White Sox added to their bullpen overnight, acquiring right-hander Huascar Brazoban from the Mets for Double-A righty Gabe Davis and Triple-A righty Zach Franklin. Davis is the 18th-ranked prospect in the Sox’ system, according to MLB.com.
Brazoban, 36, has a 2.56 ERA in 46 games this season, only his fifth in the major leagues. He has 49 strikeouts and 23 walks in 52 2/3 innings. He’s under club control through 2030.
The Sox’ bullpen is in flux. They traded right-handed reliever Seranthony Dominguez in the deal with the Mariners for righty starter Luis Castillo and moved righty Erick Fedde into the bullpen. Brazoban has a 96-97 mph fastball and a ground-ball percentage of 52.6%, thanks to his sinker, but his changeup is his best pitch.
Davis, a fifth-round draft pick in 2025, has a 5.81 ERA in 18 starts this season at High-A Winston-Salem and Double-A Birmingham. Franklin has a 4.37 ERA and five saves in 33 outings at Charlotte.
“They just told me [they] wanted to switch my role to the pen and keep me stretched out,” Fedde said of his meeting Sunday with coaches. “And I said, ‘All right, let’s do it.’ ”

“I don’t take any of this for granted,” he said Sunday, and he shouldn’t, not during such a surprisingly successful season, and not with needs still to fill.

The Sox also are picking up the remainder of Castillo’s contract.

After two stinkers coming out of the All-Star break put his rotation spot in jeopardy, the rookie left-hander delivered five innings of one-run ball after Jordan Hicks opened with a perfect first.
