Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights brings back Killer Klowns from Outer Space
Extraterrestrial clowns who wrap their prey in cotton candy cocoons will once again return to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood in a haunted maze based on an absurd cult classic horror film from the 1980s.
The Killer Klowns from Outer Space haunted house joins the lineup during Halloween Horror Nights 2026 that runs on 42 select nights at Universal Studios Hollywood from Sept. 3 through Nov. 1.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space began as the theme for a Horror Nights scare zone at Universal Orlando in 2018 before transitioning to full-fledged haunted houses on both coasts in 2019.
Universal Studios Hollywood brought back the Killer Klowns from Outer Space haunted house in 2022.

Universal Orlando will feature the Killer Klowns from Outer Space in a Downtown Clowntown haunted house this year along with Art the Clown.
The backstory for the 1988 “Killer Klowns from Outer Space” movie featured extraterrestrial clowns invading a coastal California town to harvest the residents for food.

The evil clowns in the science fiction comedy horror film shot popcorn at their victims using a bazooka-like weapon and encased them in cotton candy cocoons.
The Killer Klowns did have a weak spot. Touching their big red noses caused them to spin wildly and explode into confetti.

Horror Nights visitors can expect to encounter Jojo the Klownzilla, Shorty, Jumbo, Rosebud and other familiar clown characters from the film.

Other Horror Nights entertainment will include the Fortnitemares scare zone, “The Purge: Dangerous Waters” stunt show in the WaterWorld theater and the Terror Tram.
