A 79-year-old woman who attempted a U-turn inside a parking lot of a preschool in Glendale on Friday afternoon accidentally crashed into a wall, authorities said, injuring eight children who sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The woman accidentally stepped on the gas and drove into a wall of a classroom where students were present in the 1200 block of North Pacific Avenue, resulting in eight children receiving minor injuries, a Glendale Police Department spokesman said.
The children were taken to a hospital and later released to their parents.
The spokesman said the driver did not seem to be impaired, and that detectives did not determine distracted driving as a factor leading up to the crash.
The woman was assessed at the scene and later released following a DUI investigation, he said.
