Consulate General of Mexico in LA helps promote Tecate as travel destination

Tecate Mayor Román Cota Muñoz and other officials trekked to the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles on Thursday to promote tourism to the community, which is branded as a “Pueblo Mágico” among Mexican regions.

The presentation shone the spotlight on the food, culture and tourist attractions in the community, the only Pueblo Mágico — areas recognized as unique destinations by the Mexican government — in Baja California.

This event was organized by the 25th Municipal Government of Tecate, the Baja California Tourism Promotion Trust and the Tecate Tourism Promotion Council.

Tecate is known for:

–Its familiar tree-lined Parque Miguel Hidalgo town square;

–The popular pottery, handicrafts and other creations of local Kumiai artisans;

–The Tecate beer brewery, which has been producing and exporting the popular brand since 1954;

–Mexican sweet breads, which are showcased each year at the El Pan de la Catrina food festival; and

–The scenic Baja California wine route, which begins in Tecate and then winds toward Valle de Guadalupe.
