Are Bears brass watching the debacle unfold in Indiana as they contemplate building a stadium in Hammond?
For two weeks following an Aug. 11 storm, Indiana officials were scrambling to restart power for most residents in Gary, the second-most populous city in Northwest Indiana. Residents didn’t have energy as food and medicine in refrigerators rotted, supermarkets and pharmacies lacked power and lawsuits against the local utility company were being prepared.
The irony is rich as the Bears are threatening to cross state lines in part because of infrastructure funding for their proposed stadium in Illinois.
Crews from ComEd — the utility in scary, “dysfunctional” northern Illinois — provided support to Indiana to restore power. It’s unlikely Hoosiers officials who love to attack Illinois to prop up their careers are eating crow. Humility is grounded in truth.

Perhaps if the residents of Gary told Indiana Gov. Mike Braun they had a football team, he might have been more motivated to help them.

Murdered victims’ families’ hopelessness
It’s been 34 years since Tammy Zywicki, 20, was murdered. Her case remains unsolved. My 20-year-old brother Roger was murdered in in DuPage County 1974. His case also remains unsolved.
How murder affects the victim’s families is impossible to describe or explain. It literally changes your perspective on everything. Emotionally, you’re never the same. It’s unconscionable to me why an omniscient God wouldn’t just whisper into the ears of the investigators who the killer was and where to find the evidence for a conviction. How easy, moral and just that would be, so the bereaved can simply get a tiny measure of closure. After all, it wouldn’t upset the world order in any way whatsoever. It’s unforgivable. Unless of course, God doesn’t exist.

Just when you thought the nonsense was over, the dildos are back throwing sex toys on to the court at WNBA games. Fellas, seriously, take your toys home and maybe use them in some other way. You might discover that you enjoy your dildo more than being one.

Not getting children vaccinated is a bad move
Unproven conspiracy theories are taking effect. Vaccination percentages are beginning to drop among school-age children. Parents who are too young to remember polio, rubella and other health threats are following the suggestions of nonmedical Cabinet members and aren’t vaccinating their children.
Perhaps these parents should remember what the Ghost of Christmas Present told Scrooge. The spirit warns Scrooge to beware of want and ignorance but states that he must fear ignorance the most.
