A Dolton woman was driving impaired and recklessly when she caused a deadly crash last year, police said.
Shana Weems, 32, has been charged with aggravated DUI and reckless homicide in the death of her passenger, 31-year-old Shanna Monique Quilter. The wreck occurred in the 3800 block of West Diversey Avenue on Dec. 8, 2025 in the city’s Avondale neighborhood.
Quilter, of the Hermosa neighborhood, was ejected from the car and she died on the scene after the car Weems was driving smashed into two vehicles including a semi, police said at the time.
Weems is scheduled for a detention hearing Wednesday at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse.
