A 40-year-old woman has been charged with fatally shooting another woman Friday morning in Englewood, Chicago police said.
Carlita Jenkins of Englewood is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Candice Latara Michelle Johnson in the 6700 block of South Peoria Avenue.
Johnson, 37, was walking when Jenkins shot in her chest and back, police said. Johnson was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center and pronounced dead.
Police arrested Jenkins three hours later about a quarter mile away in the 900 block of West 68th Street. She was due in court Monday.
