Manchester United have raided Liverpool’s academy to complete a deal for teenage talent Isaac Konde.

The Red Devils have been busy in the transfer market this summer, revamping their midfield with the signings of Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Carlos Baleba.

There have been complaints that the defence has not been strengthened, particularly at left-back where Luke Shaw remains the only real option as a regular starter.

The Old Trafford giants continue to strengthen for the future, though, and have landed a blow to their bitter rivals on Merseyside.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that a deal to sign 16-yaer-old Konde has been completed and he will make the short move to Manchester.

The winger, who operates primarily on the left flank, has already stepped up to play for the Under-18s at Liverpool, despite not turning 17 until next month.

He will join the youth ranks at Manchester United and hope to make an impression on Darren Fletcher’s Under-18 side as soon as possible.

Manchester United have been investing in young talents with potential in recent years, notably Ayden Heaven from Arsenal who has quickly become a first team player.

The 19-year-old defender joined from the Gunners in February last year and has already made 25 appearances for the senior side, with 22 of those coming in the Premier League.

Chido Obi is another teenager snapped up from Arsenal as the Red Devils tempted the striker north in 2024 and he made eight senior appearances in the 2024/25 season.

The Dane’s progress was not quite as rapid as hoped as he did not play in the first team last season and has now joined Dutch side Willem II on loan for this campaign.

The Red Devils have also looked further afield, bringing in the likes of Malian midfielder Sekou Kone and Paraguayan full-back Diego Leon as signings for the future.

20-year-old Kone has joined Swiss side Lausanne-Sport on loan for the season, while Paraguay international Leon could be called up to first team action if injuries hit in the problem left-back area.

The 19-year-old was linked with a loan move over the summer, but he remains at Old Trafford.
