Chicago Fire Department personnel found a person dead on the Chicago Transit Authority Red Line tracks near 69th Street on the South Side Monday afternoon, officials said.
A spokesman said an individual was found dead when they responded to a call of a person on the tracks at around 2:36 p.m.
CFD could not immediately provide additional information about the circumstances of the incident.
The CTA issued an alert at 3:35 p.m. notifying riders that Red Line trains were running with major delays after a medical emergency on the tracks near 69th Street.
Bus shuttles were made available from 43rd to 95th streets in both directions to supplement service in the affected areas through 4 p.m., a CTA alert said.
