A Chicago police officer responding to a call was injured in a crash Monday night on the Near West Side.
The officer was in a marked vehicle with emergency lights activated, was struck by a silver sedan at an intersection in the 500 block of South Ashland Avenue around 10:25 p.m., police said. The other driver had failed to yield, police said.
The officer suffered a cut to his forehead and was taken to an area hospital in good condition, officials said. The driver of the sedan, a 26-year-old man, suffered a knee injury and was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.
Two other passengers in the sedan declined medical attention, police said.
A citation was issued to the driver of the silver sedan, police said.
