Spencer Matthews shares update after birth of fourth child with Vogue Williams: ‘It’s lonely’

Spencer Matthews has been candid about how tough it has been to adjust to another baby entering the family.

The 38-year-old presenter celebrated the birth of baby number four with wife Vogue Williams at the start of the month. The mum-of-four’s caption read ‘the house is bursting with excitement, love and happiness and we couldn’t be more delighted.’

After a U-turn on their original plan to name the tot Elvis following concern from family and friends, the happy couple recently announced that the newest addition would have the Disney-inspired name, Remy.

But, as any parent of a newborn can attest to, there have also been tough moments as they adjust to a bigger household, alongside their other children – Theodore, seven, Gigi, six, and four-year-old Otto.

Spencer opened up about the toll it’s taken on his and Vogue’s time together on his friend Jamie Laing’s podcast, Newly Parents.

Explaining that the ‘lovely bubble’ with their three other kids has been ‘disturbed’ since they are currently in a rental home whilst building works take place.

He continued: ‘Vogue and I both in our own ways feel a bit lonely at the moment,’ sharing that he is currently sleeping in the spare room with the boys while his wife sleeps with the newborn.

‘For us both to have broken sleep is unhelpful to the rest of the family flow,’ he shared as the reason why.

‘We don’t sleep next to each other. I’m out. I’m working. Vogue’s more at home at the moment. I come home in the evening, and we might have an hour together.

‘We’ll eat something and maybe put something on TV, but she’s tired and so am I. So, she goes to bed separately to me.’

Admitting that he doesn’t like sleeping apart, the Made in Chelsea star said the two of them ‘feel a bit fractured’.

‘It sort of feels like you’ve fallen out because you’re staying in [another] room,’ he concluded. Friend Jamie, who welcomed his first child Ziggy, with partner Sophie Habboo at the end of last year, sympathised with the lack of couple alone time.

Later, Spencer added: ”Look I love my kids. In the same breath, I can easily spend time away from my kids. And I think I think that’s normal, isn’t it?’.

He reflected on his own relationship with his dad, who, he shared, wasn’t around much growing up as he was often out working, but he still has an ‘amazing relationship’ with him.

As for his role in the bustling household right now, he’s manning the ship with the three older kids as he gets them ready for the day alongside the help of a nanny, while Vogue takes care of Remy and catches up on much-needed sleep.
